A SIMPLE PRAYER

May today there be peace within you.
May you trust God that you are
exactly where you are meant to be.

May you not forget the infinite
possibilities that are born of faith.

May you use those gifts that you have received,
and pass on the love that has been given to you.

May you be content knowing that you are a child of God.

Let His presence settle into your bones,
and allow your soul the freedom to sing,
dance,
and to bask in the sun.

It is there for each and every one of you.
Healing Unity

Eradicating discrimination, intolerance and violence: If we all live peacefully with each other, then we can put an
end to all sorts of discrimination and intolerance such as gender & racial discrimination, xenophobia(1) and others;
including language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.
Above all, we can reduce or eliminate family and domestic violence and abuse.

Let us promote human equality and respect for human rights and fundamental liberties for all without distinction of
any kind.

Any philosophy or doctrine of superiority based on racial, or other differentiation is scientifically false, morally
condemnable, socially unjust and dangerous; there is no justification for it, in theory or in practice, anywhere.

Great historical atrocities have been perpetrated due to hatred based on intolerance and discrimination.

Some of these are acknowledged on this site as ongoing examples of the senseless barbarity that intolerance and
hatred generates. Countless human lives were lost - so many that individual graves and memorials were not possible.

These atrocities and massacres were done on the basis of hatred, intolerance and misunderstanding of all who were
"different" from the dominant group in power.

We live in a sick, dysfunctional world that has destroyed the whole sense of “connectedness”. Everyone is touched
and affected by it. How each of us responds is an individual thing – yet also based on the dysfunctional cultural
norms of our time.

Black Elk’s recollection (in Chief Seattle’s letter) describes one result of evil: other evil exists and has. It grinds
people and cultures down - it results in discrimination, prejudice and slaughter.

This section of the site illustrates some of the worst ones. It includes the "
Montreal Massacre", the "Holocaust",
"
Montsegur", "Masada", and "Wounded Knee - The Trail of Tears". This testimony to connection gives legitimacy and
recognition to their lives: they are not forgotten.

No one person or group can stop it overnight. Yet, it isn’t hopeless; one doesn’t have to give in to it, either. We
each, in our own small way, can counter and resist it by promoting, and practising love, empathy and compassion:
thus establishing a wholesome and sane connection.

Small steps, perhaps, but all any of us can do is start with ourselves, and perhaps, through example, affect someone
else in a positive, wholesome way. Maybe it happens with only one person at a time - each one teach one: that’s how
it works in life anyway.

Perhaps this is an example of learning to live as described in the ancient teachings: “
be in the world, but not of it”.

We all must recognize that racial, cultural and gender intolerance in our society will not simply wither away and
that we all play a central role in shaping personal and social values.

(1) Xenophobia is a fear or contempt of foreigners or strangers.
It comes from the Greek words ξένος (xenos), meaning "
foreigner," "stranger," and φόβος (phobos), meaning "fear."
The word is typically used to describe fear or dislike of foreigners or in general, of people different from one's
self, their customs and culture, and foreign things in general.
