The Montreal Massacre: MONTREAL, DECEMBER 6,
1989

For 45 minutes on Dec. 6, 1989 an enraged gunman
roamed the corridors of Montreal's
École
Polytechnique
and killed 14 women.

Marc Lepine, 25, separated the men from the women
and before opening fire on the classroom of female
engineering students he screamed, "
I hate feminists".

One person pleads that they are not feminists, just
students taking engineering. But the gunman doesn't
listen. He shoots the women and then kills himself.

Parents of the Polytechnique students waited outside
the school crying and wondering if their daughters
were among the 14 dead that night.

Almost immediately, the
Montreal Massacre became a
galvanizing moment in which mourning turned into
outrage about all violence against women.

1 woman is killed every 3 days in Canada by a man known to her.

First Mourn, then Work, as Men & Women, for Change.

December 6 has been proclaimed the National Day of Remembrance and
Action on Violence Against Women by the Canadian Government and
commemorative events occur annually across Canada to remember the
women killed and to continue action to end violence in all its forms.

Men For Change formed in response to this tragedy with the purpose of
exploring the power and the pain in men's lives that, if left unpacked, can
lead to violence towards others and ourselves.
The Purple Ribbon Campaign To End Domestic Violence:

Why Purple?

Bruises women have sustained at the hands of their abusers. It is time to remind our country of the hidden secrets many women and children
face daily,  in their nice warm pretty homes!
Hidden behind closed doors. In a place they thought at one time would serve as comfort and love. These Women Could be:
Your Best Friend        Your Mom        Your Daughter        A Co Worker        A sweet, quiet neighbour        YOU

There are many faces in domestic violence. There is no stereotype situation: Strong Powerful Women, Stay-at-Home Wives and Mothers,
The President of the PTA, The clerk in the grocery store, A CEO in charge of a corporation. The Woman Being Beat Can Be ANYONE!

The only trait this woman will have in common with all the others is, she knows all to well, how to hide the abuse from others. She carries
her scars inside, and hides the bruises from your eyes. She needs to know, and we all must join hands to show her - SHE DOES NOT HAVE
TO WALK ALONE ANYMORE!

So often, time and time again, a woman being abused hides the abuse. She is embarrassed. She has very little self-value.
It has been stolen from her, by her abuser. She usually demonstrates low self-esteem. She feels like a failure.
She walks alone, afraid to let anyone in. She feels no one will understand. She feels worse yet; you will judge her.

I ask all of you, to stand for this woman. To take her hand; gently. To be there to listen, without judging. She needs a true friend. She needs a
shoulder. She needs you. Her life may depend on you.

Please, become acquainted with Domestic Violence. Step up to bat for women who are being abused. Become more aware.

Spread the word. Offer safety.
Marc Lepine's Suicide letter:   (Marc Lepine - the Murderer)
"Forgive the mistakes, I had 15 minutes to write this. Would you note that if I commit suicide today 89-12-06 it is not for economic reasons
(for I have waited until I exhausted all my financial means, even refusing jobs) but for political reasons. Because I have decided to send the
feminists, who have always ruined my life, to their Maker. For seven years life has brought me no joy and being totally blase, I have decided
to put an end to those viragos.

I tried in my youth to enter the Forces as a student-officer, which would have allowed me possibly to get into the arsenal and precede Lortie
in a raid. They refused me because antisocial (sic). I therefore had to wait until this day to execute my plans. In between, I continued my
studies in a haphazard way for they never really interested me, knowing in advance my fate. Which did not prevent me from obtaining very
good marks despite my theory of not handing in work and the lack of studying before exams.

Even if the Mad Killer epithet will be attributed to me by the media, I consider myself a rational erudite that only the arrival of the Grim
Reaper has forced to take extreme acts. For why persevere to exist if it is only to please the government. Being rather backward-looking by
nature (except for science), the feminists have always enraged me. They want to keep the advantages of women (e.g. cheaper insurance,
extended maternity leave preceded by a preventative leave, etc.) while seizing for themselves those of men.

Thus it is an obvious truth that if the Olympic Games removed the Men-Women distinction, there would be Women only in the graceful
events. So the feminists are not fighting to remove that barrier. They are so opportunistic they neglect to profit from the knowledge
accumulated by men through the ages. They always try to misrepresent them every time they can. Thus, the other day, I heard they were
honoring the Canadian men and women who fought at the frontline during the world wars. How can you explain then that women were not
authorized to go to the frontline??? Will we hear of Caesar's female legions and female galley slaves who of course took up 50 per cent of the
ranks of history, though they never existed. A real Casus Belli.
Sorry for this too brief letter.
Marc Lepine

(the letter is followed by the 19 name list, with a note at the bottom):
"Nearly died today. The lack of time (because I started too late) has allowed these radical feminists to survive. Alea Jacta Est."

Lepine's last words, "
Oh shit", before putting the gun below his face and firing.
