Be on the lookout
       for symptoms
               of inner peace.

The hearts of a great many have already been exposed;
and it is possible that people,
       everywhere,
could come down with it in epidemic proportions.

This could pose a serious threat to
what has,
up to now,
       been a fairly stable condition
               of conflict in the world.

Some signs and symptoms of inner peace:

A tendency to think and act spontaneously
rather than on fears
       based on past experiences.

An unmistakable ability
to enjoy each moment.

A loss of interest
       in judging other people.
In the journey the ultimate goal
has always been the same –
to live a life that has meaning,
to cultivate self-awareness,
consciousness,
and kindness.

I have come to understand
there's no chart for greatness,

it's a long slow process of simply listening
and being listened to
and giving yourself the strength
and freedom to live

Peacefulness is an inner sense of calm

- it comes from becoming still –
in order
to reflect
       and meditate
               on our inner wisdom

               and receive answers.

A peaceful heart
is one that is free
     from worry
             and trouble.

It's becoming quiet
so we can look at things quietly
so we can more clearly understand them
and thus come up with creative solutions.

It is learning to live in the present.

In today's world
we take Inner Peace
and our inner spirit too much for granted.
The price we pay for this ignorance
             is phenomenal.

We’re all in this world together,
       and yet sometimes,
that idea gets blurred and foggy.

We see each other as separate
until certain people or events happen,
               which jar our senses
                       and make us realize
                               the inner connection
                                       between all of us.

Everyone has had the sensation of swallowing tears,
hurt, anger
or frustration;
       being silenced
       emotionally,
               mentally
                       and ultimately spiritually.

With time,
       many of us forget
how to live without feeling silenced.

We live in a quiet
that is not serene and meditative,
       but repressed and suffocating.

And in that quiet we forget – almost -
how to return to that state
       of inner peace.

Yet, our inner self reminds us
that our mission is to live in the possibility
       of finding and harnessing
               what is great within us,

and then giving ourselves complete freedom
to express our discovery with full voices
to our partners,
       our friends,
       our children
               and our world.
1
A loss of interest
in judging self.

A loss of interest
in interpreting the actions of others.

       A loss of interest
               in conflict.

               A loss of the ability
               to worry
                       - this is a very serious symptom.

                       Frequent, overwhelming episodes
                       of appreciation.

Contented feelings
of connectedness
       with oneself,
               with others,
                       and nature.

Frequent attacks
of smiling
through the eyes of the Heart.

An increasing tendency
to
let things happen
       rather than
make them happen.

An increased susceptibility
to the love extended by others
as well as the uncontrollable urge
               to extend it.

WARNING:
If you have some or all of the above symptoms,
please be advised that your condition of inner peace
may be too far advanced to be curable.

If you are exposed to anyone
               exhibiting any of these symptoms,
                       remain exposed
                               only at your own risk.
Intentions for Increasing Inner Peace
I've found that one way to create more inner peace
is to intend it.

The following five intentions can be stated aloud or silently at anytime.
Today,
I intend to accept
 everything as it is.

Today,
I will do something
that makes me feel more peaceful.
Today,
I release the pressure
to be perfect
or to do everything perfectly.

Today,
I'll be kind
and compassionate
toward myself
 and those around me.

Today,
I'll slow down
and take time to
"just
be."

By using these intentions
(and/or by creating our own intentions)
       on a daily basis
               we can more easily sustain
a sense of peace and equilibrium.

There is a criterion by which you can judge
whether the thoughts you are thinking
and the things you are doing are right for you.

The criterion is:
have they brought you inner peace?

If they have not,
there is something wrong with them,
      so keep seeking!

If what you do has brought you inner peace,
stay with what you believe is right.

When we are present in each moment,
the past gently rolls up
behind us

and the future
slowly unravels
before us.
