Your Children ……
are travellers in an unknown land and you are their guide,
remember that!
Because, as Kahlil Gibran wrote……
"Your children are not your children.
They are the sons and daughters of Life's longing for itself.
They come through you but not from you, and though they are with you, yet they belong not to you.
You may give them your love, but not your thoughts. For they have their own thoughts.
You may house their bodies but not their souls, for their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow, which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.
You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.
For life goes not backward, nor tarries with yesterday."

The moment a child is born, the parent is also born.
S/he never existed before. The person existed, but the parent, never.

A hundred years from now
it will not matter what my bank account was,
the sort of house I lived in,
or the kind of car I drove,
but the world may be different because….
I was important in the life of a child -Forest Witcraft
If you bungle raising your children, I don't think whatever else you do well matters very much. ~Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis

As parents, hindsight is often very humbling because it tends
focus on what went wrong. We can see the many mistakes we
made. There is no excuse – they happened.
All we can say is: we did the best we could with what we knew
and what we had at the time. What we know now, and what we
have now, is different – hopefully “better”.
While we don’t get to start fresh with you, we CAN recognize
and respect you for the fine adults you have become, and ask for
your understanding, tolerance, and forgiveness.
Old dogs and dads (& moms) CAN (and do) learn new tricks – and
ways. -Dad/Opa/Klaas
You have a lifetime to work, but children are only young once.
