Life IS About . . .

> > > continued from – “Life is NOT About”. . . (Click HERE to re-read)

. . . But, life is about who you love, and who you hurt.

It's about who you make happy, or unhappy, purposefully.

It's about keeping or betraying trust.

It's about friendship, used as a sanctity or a weapon.

It's about what you say and mean, maybe hurtful, maybe heartening.

About starting rumors and contributing to petty gossip.

It's about what judgments you pass and why.
And who your judgments are spread to.

It's about who you've ignored with full control and intention.

It's about jealousy, fear, ignorance, and revenge.

It’s about grudges you hold, and who you forgive.

It's about carrying inner hate and love, letting it grow, and spreading it.

But most of all, it's about using your life to touch, or poison, other people's hearts in such
a way that could have never occurred alone.

Only you choose the way those hearts are affected,
and those choices are what life's all about.

Soundtrack:  Evening Prayer
Pray that you make right choices, and harm none.
People will judge you by your actions, not your intentions.
And they remember what you’ve done to them, more than what you said.

Living with integrity means:
  • Not settling for less than what you know you deserve in your relationships - and treating others as they deserve.
  • Asking for what you want and need from others, and honouring their requests.
  • Speaking truth, even though it might create conflict or tension – and be prepared to hear it.
  • Behaving in ways that are in harmony with your personal values; while causing no harm to others.
  • Making choices based on what you believe, and not what others believe: for we cannot do evil to others without
    doing it to ourselves.
  • Anger makes you smaller, while forgiveness, amends & reconciliation forces you to grow beyond what you were.
Lash out in speech/actions when you are angry/afraid/hurt, and you will make the best speech/actions you will ever regret.
Web of Life - Dawn Cove Abbey -  Aug '07
To touch the soul of another human being
is to walk on holy ground.

If I have wounded any soul today,
If I have caused one foot to go astray,
If I have walked in my own wilful way--

If I have uttered idle words or vain,
If I have turned aside from want or pain,
Lest I myself should suffer through the strain--

If I have craved for joys that are not mine,
If I have let my wayward heart repine,
Swelling on things of earth, not things divine--

If I have been perverse, or hard, or cold.
If I have been longed for shelter in Thy fold,
When Thou hast given me some part to hold--

Forgive the sins I have confessed to Thee,
Forgive the secret sins I do not see,
That which I know not, Father, teach Thou me--
Dear Lord, forgive!
Help me to live.

My Evening Prayer
